Which one?
- Wim Hof if you want rounds of deep breathing and a hold — read the safety note first
- 4-7-8 if you want something counted, with a long out-breath to follow
- Box if you want every side the same, and nothing to anticipate
- Resonance if you want an even pace with no holds, for as long as you like
- Extended exhale if you want the out-breath stretched and nothing held

How the patterns differ, what the numbers mean, and what each one asks of you.
- Box breathing vs 4-7-8Four equal sides against four in, seven held, eight out. What changes between the two patterns, which numbers you can move, and a timer for each.
- Six breaths a minuteFive seconds in, five seconds out, and why that particular rate has a name. Resonance frequency, what happens to heart rate as you breathe, and a paced timer.
- Breathing exercises for sleepWhat the breathing patterns people use at night have in common: a longer out-breath, no holds to brace for, and nothing to count wrong. With a timer.
- Breathing exercises for anxietyWhat the breathing patterns people use when anxious have in common: a slower pace, a longer out-breath, and nothing held. Described plainly, with a timer.
- Breathing exercises for focusWhy the patterns people use for focus are the even ones, what the holds are doing, and how long a session at a desk actually runs. With a timer.
- How long should you do breathing exercises for? What actually changes between a one-minute session and a twenty-minute one, why most patterns do not build, and how to pick a length. With a timer.
- Nose vs mouth breathingWhat is mechanically different about breathing through the nose or the mouth, which patterns specify one, and why a timer cannot tell. With a timer.
What this is
Tide is a breathing timer. It shows a figure that grows and shrinks with the pattern you picked, carries the pace with a tone, and counts the phases so you do not have to.
It runs in this page with nothing to install. On a phone it runs as an app, with sound and haptics, and it keeps going with the screen off and no connection at all.
It is made by one person. There is nothing to sign in to, no profile is kept, and nothing leaves your device unless you turn that on yourself.
