About

Who made this

I am Alexander Olsen, a software developer in Oslo, and I built Tide. It is not a company, a team or a studio — it is one person and a timer.

I am not a doctor, a physiologist or a breathwork instructor, and nothing on this site is medical advice.

What these pages will and will not say

Every page here describes mechanics: what a pattern asks of you, where its numbers come from, and what is measurable about it. No page here says a pattern will fix or resolve anything for you, and nothing on this site is presented as proven — because it is not, and because I would not be qualified to say so if it were.

Where a page states a physiological fact, it is taken from published sources. Where the research is thin or contested, the page says it is thin or contested. That is the whole editorial rule, and it is the reason to trust the rest.

If something here is wrong, tell me. I will correct it and say when it changed.

What I can actually offer

I have built the timer and run every pattern in it, many times, on a phone in the dark. That is experience with the thing itself rather than with the physiology, and it is the only expertise I am claiming.

It is also why the app refuses some ordinary things. There is no streak, because a streak turns a practice into a debt. There is no account, because a breathing timer does not need to know who you are. Nothing is behind a subscription.
